In the beginning of 2020, Apiax was a team of 25 employees. During the course of the year, the company practically doubled its number of employees, surpassing 50 people in total. This is the fastest growth since its founding in 2017. All of this happened despite the COVID-19 pandemic, with most of the employees working and beginning their journeys with Apiax from their homes.
One of our main accomplishments in 2020 was the launch of our office in Singapore, adding to our presence in Zurich, Lisbon and London. But our team has more than just four cultures. In fact, we have 18 different nationalities from all over the world which contribute to our diverse and rich company culture. As for working from home, this unprecedented challenge created the opportunity to put our core values even more into practice. At Apiax, we believe in trust, transparency and focus, and these helped us shape our growth throughout 2020.
As a compliance management company, we are techies at heart with legal and compliance DNA. This is shown in the combined years of experience we bring: 277 years of legal and compliance expertise, 231 years in software engineering, and 115 in B2B sales. These include years in top global companies like Credit Suisse, EY, UBS, Accenture, BNP Paribas, PWC, Microsoft, American Express, Siemens, just to name a few.
Something we are very proud of is the before mentioned diversity. The average ratio of gender composition in software companies is usually around 34% female and 66% male, according to Statista. We are a 42% female and 58% male company, with women occupying many leadership positions within our teams. Not to mention, that in just over three years of existence, Apiax employees have welcomed 10 new babies. We are a family-friendly workplace and we love to see our Apiax family continue to grow.
Our goal has always been to make complex regulations accessible to everyone. Looking back to the beginning of 2020, we had a different idea of how we would do that with a larger team. This unconventional reality pushed us to quickly adapt and accelerate innovative solutions to grow the company. Moreover, we confirmed that our core values and beliefs as a company are a big part of this expansion and we are proud to have the team we built so far. From here on, it’s all upwards. Today we can say that we are closer than ever to our goal of making compliance management simple.
