Andreas has more than 18 years of experience in risk management functions and leading regulatory projects in the financial industry. He holds a Master of Arts (lic. oec) from the University of St. Gallen and a Master of Law (LL.M) from the University of Zurich. Andreas started his banking career at Zürcher Kantonalbank. From 2004 until 2017 he had different roles within Credit Suisse. He headed the business risk team of the global discretionary mandate unit and led the MiFID II implementation of Credit Suisse Asset Management. Andreas is passionate about unleashing the potential of regulatory digital rule sets and making the advantages appreciable in the day-to-day work of users.
For the last 15 years, Andrew has been in charge of designing and implementing successful international B2B sales and product strategies/frameworks for global companies in the IT security arena and executing upon them with a team of sales professionals. Introducing new technologies and solutions to markets is where he is able to add extensive experience to Apiax's journey. Andrew has a Bachelor degree in Computer Science and multiple certifications in project management and software testing. As a perpetual early adopter, Andrew is passionate about emerging technologies and how they can be applied to fundamentally change how we live and conduct business.
Angelica has nine years of experience in the banking industry and holds a BSc. in Banking and Finance. Before joining Apiax, Angelica spent five years at Credit Suisse in various positions in Corporate Banking and Investment Services & Products. In her last role as business risk manager, she focused on cross-border regulations for portfolio managers and regulatory projects (e.g. MiFID II). Angelica’s passion is to transform complex regulations into digital compliance rules and to leverage her expertise to create powerful RegTech solutions.
Gonçalo graduated with a Bachelor degree in Computer Science from Lisbon`s New University and completed a Master degree in the same area with a specialisation in Information Systems at the University of Lisbon. He has five years of experience as a software engineer on different software development projects covering project management, telecommunications and gambling. He also has experience as a university researcher in the field of augmented reality. During all his tenures, Gonçalo was involved in the full software development cycle, from planning to implementation, testing and maintenance. Gonçalo is passionate about building software and finding the best solutions for the proposed challenges.
Nico started his career as a software developer in the financial services industry and later graduated with a BSc in Economics and Marketing and with a CAS in Crisis Communications. Before Apiax, Nico had already co-founded delicioustaste, providing him with an entrepreneurial backpack. In 2013, Nico joined Appway, where he became Head of Marketing and built a global, distributed marketing team with offices in Singapore, New York and Zurich. Nico’s passion is to build highly scalable business and operations models and to create meaningful brands. Nico is also a member of the board at TEDxZurich, helping to create a platform for inspiring ideas.
Philip has 15 years of experience in international banking technology. After graduating with a Master of Science in Business Technology from the University of Zurich, he spent five years at UBS in various product management positions in Switzerland and the United States. In the years before co-founding Apiax, Philip was a driving force behind building and globally positioning client onboarding and digital banking solutions at a leading global vendor for digital banking applications. Philip’s passion is to build an agile and scalable product management unit with a main focus on sales and strategy.
Rafael has over nine years of experience as a software engineer in various industries. He graduated with an MSc. in Electrical and Computers Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon, Portugal. Rafael then worked on mission-critical IT systems for public transport at Thales, created consumer targeted mobile applications for Samsung and Google in Impossible, and even worked on chatbots like Nikabot. Rafael thrives on solving problems in a multi-disciplinary environment, no matter in which technology, provided that they lead to a simpler, more effective and more stress-free life.
Ralf has over 16 years of legal and compliance experience within the financial industry and holds a Master of Law from the University of Zurich. Having started his compliance career at Zürcher Kantonalbank, Ralf went on to perform a variety of different legal and compliance roles at Credit Suisse between 2005 and 2016, both in Switzerland and abroad. In his last role at Credit Suisse, Ralf managed a team covering all legal and compliance tasks for the investment services and products, asset management and mutual funds business in Switzerland. Ralf has always been passionate about standardisation and leveraging technology to simplify the demands of modern legal and compliance work. He is president of the International RegTech Association’s Swiss chapter and co-founder of Legal Hackers Zurich.
Thomas has spent the last seven years in the wealth management industry at the intersection of investment services and communications. In his last role at a boutique investment consultancy in Zurich, he helped investors to deal with political uncertainty and was responsible for the company’s branding and communications efforts. Thomas holds a doctorate in Political Science from ETH Zurich. He is passionate about the influence of technology on financial markets and financial services and about creating relevant brand identities and effective communication strategies in the current digital age.
Thomas holds an MSc. in Computer Science from ETH Zurich and has a long track record in building great software for the financial services industry. Thomas was one of the key engineers at a small startup that later became a leading vendor for digital banking applications and he scaled the platform architecture to enterprise-readiness. He was responsible for the architecture and the engineering of the core rule-, data-, and integration-layers and also helped to transform the developer team into an agile organisation. Thomas is incredibly passionate about AI and how to build highly available, scalable and future-proof software solutions and achieve a true DevOps environment.
Sonja Stirnimann is a Certified Fraud Examiner, holds an international Executive MBA in Financial Services & Insurance and is a business mediator. As an expert, she specialises in the prevention, detection and investigation of white-collar crime and non-compliance in global companies and in providing comprehensive support to those affected.
Ralph Mogicato has over 25 years of experience in the financial industry in Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Singapore. He is co-founder and used to be CEO at the Swiss consultancy Synpulse (formerly known as Solution Providers) with over 250 employees mainly in the banking and insurance sector. He has expertise in strategy building and implementation for banks and insurance companies and has a deep understanding, work and consulting experience in defining business cases, make-or-buy decisions, evaluation support of core banking and insurance systems, quality assurance for large projects and composition of „greenfield units“. He is now entrepreneur, senior adviser, professional board member and angel investor in over 10 ICT and fintech start-ups, lecturer at the University of Zurich and Applied University of Science Kaleidos and guest lecturer at IFZ, University of St. Gallen and Swiss Finance Institute. He’s also on the board of CREALOGIX Holding AG, Swiss ICT Investors Club (SICTIC) and member of various fintech associations in Switzerland, UK and Asia.
Jürg Steiger is a passionated business leader with a strong entrepreneurial mindset and 25+ years of international working experience. He was previously managing director in the US and Switzerland with UBS and Swiss Re in the area of Wealth-/Asset Management, Investment Banking, Reinsurance and Startup Investing. He combines strategic thinking with an enthusiasm of cross cultural team work as well as a startup mindset. Jürg holds an MBA from the University of Chicago.
Peter Kurer is a partner with the private equity firm BLR & Partners AG. He studied law and political science at the University of Zurich and the University of Chicago and started his professional career with the international law firm of Baker & McKenzie where he became a partner in 1985. Since 1990, Peter Kurer was a founding partner of the Zurich law firm Homburger where he headed the Corporate Law Practice Group. He specialized in M&A and corporate law and also served on a number of boards of public and private companies. In 2001, Peter Kurer joined UBS as General Counsel and member of the Group Executive Board. He served as the chairman of the bank during the crisis of 2008-2009 and then retired. He now is also chairman of Sunrise, a Swiss telecommunication group, and of Kein & Aber, a Swiss book publisher, sits on a number of boards, and acts as independent advisor. Peter Kurer writes and speaks frequently on M&A topics, corporate governance issues, and legal and compliance risk management. His new book “Legal and Compliance Risk: a Strategic Response to a Rising Threat for Global Business” was published by Oxford University Press in February 2015.
Chris Wood is an API specialist from the UK who helps a range of organisations succeed in their API endeavours. He has a background in data, integration and payments spending a decade at Visa Europe including a stint as a member of Collab, the Visa Europe innovation lab. His main interests are API management, Python and blogging on subjects across the API Economy for Nordic APIs. As well as working with Apiax Chris is currently a technical architect for the UK open banking programme at HSBC. He is working on the implementation of open APIs for the Competition and Markets Authority open banking initiative.
Ursula Lang, lic. iur., is a self-employed attorney-at-law at Sintzel Krapf Lang Rechtsanwälte in Zurich. She also acts as member of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Risk Committee at VP Bank Group and Vice President of the Board of Directors and member of the Audit Committee at responsAbility Investments AG. Prior to these roles she worked for 15 years at Credit Suisse, serving in a number of different positions including as General Counsel for Switzerland and the Private Banking & Wealth Management Division. Before assuming this position, she oversaw Compliance for Switzerland and Private Banking. After earning her law degree at the University of Zurich, Ursula Lang worked for several years as an attorney in a Zurich law firm specialised in commercial law and on the legal staff of a district court for the canton of Zurich.
Marc Olivier Morant is the Head PwC’s Flexible Resources (FLR), a service of PwC Legal at PwC Switzerland. He is Partner since January 2018 and possesses highly developed and detailed knowledge of the Legal & Compliance staff leasing business. Combined with a strong sense for innovation and entrepreneurship, he became a recognised partner in this field offering thought leadership for all alternative legal and LegalTech / RegTech enthusiasts globally. Pre-PwC he worked as General Manager for Axiom in Switzerland and as Chief Counsel for Swiss Life International, XL Insurance, Novartis and Switzerland based law firms. He is Advisory Board Member of the Swiss Legal Tech Association (SLTA) and a Swiss qualified lawyer holding an LL.M. degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) as well as a Doctoral degree in law (Dr. iur.) from the University of Basel. Additionally, he passed a General Management Program at Harvard Business School.
After graduating from the University of Regensburg in computer science and linguistics, Susanne joined IBM as one of the first female sales representatives for large systems. Later she left to build a technology analyst company at the age of 24, which she sold 12 years later to Gartner. She joined Siemens AG in 1998, where she initiated the mobile venture “The Leonie Project” that envisioned mobile phone technology for child protection devices. Later, she returned as Investor Relations executive responsible for key messages in the Mobile Division, followed by a position as Global EVP Marketing and Communications for Adecco SA. After an Executive MBA degree at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland, her current venture, CEO Positions AG, was founded in early 2006 in Zurich. Mueller Zantop is active at CEO Positions AG, where she serves as chairwoman and main shareholder. CEO Positions AG is a consulting and production company for CEO strategy communication. Customers are global brands in energy, finance, IT and telecommunications. The company name highlights that the CEO is the key medium to embody the company strategy.
Ruediger Petrikowski started his carrier as bank professional. Afterwards he studied in Germany, Sweden and China and holds a Master’s degree in Business Engineering & Management from the Technical University of Darmstadt in Germany. He has more than 20 years experiences in the telecommunication, media, technology, payment and collection industry as CFO, M&A and Business Development professional in senior leadership roles in Germany (Thyssen Telecom) and Switzerland (Swisscom, PubliGroupe & Publicitas) and was lecture of Mergers & Acquisitions over 10 years at the Kalaidos University of applied science in Zurich, Switzerland. With his experiences he is advising and mentoring companies in different life cycles (start-up, growth and turn around) to take advantage of the digital age, to realise impact on top line and bottom line performance and to secure financing. He is co-founder of the FinTech chapter of the Swiss ICT Investor Club (SICTIC) and is on the advisory board of SICTIC with the focus on partnering
Dr. Thomas Schmuckli is an accredited Lawyer and Notary. Thomas acts as Chairman of the Board of Directors at Bossard Holding AG, Zug, (Member of the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee, and Chair of the Nomination Committee) and as Chairman of the Board of Directors at Credit Suisse Funds AG. Moreover, Thomas is Member of the Board of Directors of Oetiker Group, Horgen, and Patria Genossenschaft, Basel. Between 1993 and 2000 and between 2005 and 2013 Thomas held different management positions in the general counsel division at Credit Suisse Group, at last he acted as Head Legal & Compliance CS Asset Management, Zürich. From March 2000 to 2005 he served as the Head of Process and Product Management at Zuger Kantonalbank. Thomas holds a PhD and a Master degree in Law from the University of Fribourg and he completed a Management Education at Zurich University in 2002.
